About the Chamber Choir
The New Forest Chamber Choir was formed in October 2011 by Alison
Russell-Hayward, Musical Director & Conductor. Just a few months
later they won ‘Choir of the Day’ @ BBC Choir of the
Year. The Choir is extremely
proud to have John Rutter as their Patron.
This multi award winning SATB Choir perfectly blends the fresh
bright beautiful tone of the younger voice with the rich adult
voices (soprano, alto, male tenor and bass singers). The choir
has an exceptional blended sound and a “trademark long
legato phrases’.
The Chamber Choir grew from the multi-award winning
New Forest Children’s
Choir, who won “BBC Choir of the Year
2010”, as seen on TV.
Both Choirs enjoy an exciting Concert Series -
performing in many beautiful churches in the south and for
charities. Being a member of our New Forest Choirs is very
rewarding and offers wonderful performance opportunities.
Appearances include: Queen Elizabeth Hall, London; Pavilion
Theatre, Bournemouth; St. John’s Smith Square, London;
Nuffield Theatre; Highcliffe Castle, Dorset; Caernarfon, Wales;
The Priory, Christchurch. Several performances at Wimborne Minster
for “Save the Children” and Milton Abbey, Dorset;
St. Saviours’, Brockenhurst; All Saints Church,
Bransgore; Beaulieu Abbey (‘Choir in Residence’),
Hampshire etc ...
The choir have released their own CD called “Decorous”.
